Which Patagonia model, if any
Patagonia waders on Amazon US
We found no Patagonia waders on Amazon US at our last check (October 2026). I won't guess why, because stock on Amazon changes and the picture can change. The table above holds alternatives, and this page explains how they were picked, what Patagonia itself says, and how to compare.
A word about sources. Patagonia's own product pages were down when I tried them, so the details below come from a Patagonia store help page, a fly shop's review, a trade article and retailer listings. Where a source is a retailer or a reviewer, I say so, and none of it is our own testing.
Who Patagonia is
Patagonia was founded in 1973 by Yvon Chouinard and is headquartered in Ventura, California. In September 2022, according to Wikipedia, Chouinard transferred the company's voting stock to the Patagonia Purpose Trust and the nonvoting stock to the Holdfast Collective, a nonprofit. None of that tells you how a wader fits.
What Patagonia sells in fly fishing
Swiftcurrent waders. Retailer listings I found show Swiftcurrent men's and women's waders and a Swiftcurrent Expedition zip-front model. Retailers disagree about status: one marks the Expedition zip-front as discontinued while still taking pre-orders, others list Swiftcurrent models as available, and a European retailer calls the Expedition the flagship. I can't resolve that from the pages I read, so check patagonia.com for the model you want.
What a reviewer says about the women's Swiftcurrent: a midweight outer fabric described as breathable, ripstop fabric on the gravel guards, recycled content, articulated knees, a gusseted crotch, a convertible top with flip-up strap tabs, drop seat technology carried over from older waders, neoprene booties that are thick and fleece-lined, a ruched wading belt, a front pocket, a fleece-lined hand-warmer pocket and a waterproof interior pocket. The same reviewer found the booties tighter inside boots than the previous generation, which is the kind of detail worth checking before you buy a boot. This is one person's description, not a Patagonia specification.
Rio Gallegos. An older Patagonia wader name that turns up in reviews dating from around 2016. I could not confirm it as a current model, so I won't describe it.
Forra wading boots. A 2023 trade article says Patagonia introduced the Forra, built by Fitwell, with Vibram Mars sticky rubber soles and HexaBase lugs, an EVA midsole, a CORDURA mesh upper that drains and dries quickly, an adjustable web lacing system, non-corrosive hardware and a weight of 41 ounces. It is compatible with a tungsten-carbide stud kit. The article does not list sizes. Read our wading boots page and the felt vs rubber guide for how to choose a sole.
Other gear. Listings and reviews name Stealth sling packs and a Swiftcurrent wading jacket. I did not read their specs, and we do not track Patagonia packs, jackets, belts or staffs on Amazon US. For the categories, see wading jackets, sling packs, fly fishing vests, wading belts and wading staffs. I found no Patagonia fly fishing vest or wading staff in what I read, so I won't say whether one exists.
The guarantee and repairs
Patagonia's Ironclad Guarantee, per a Patagonia store help page, covers manufacturing defects and product failures. Normal wear and tear can typically be repaired at a reasonable charge. The store in Bend says it handles minor repairs for free, but cannot accept waders or wetsuits there, and tells customers to use patagonia.com/returns or call. More complex repairs go to the repair facility in Reno, Nevada, with a typical turnaround of 8 to 10 weeks and up to 12 weeks in peak season. Items should be washed first.
Gary read "Ironclad" and assumed it covered a walk through barbed wire. It covers defects and failures, not Gary.
For small leaks, retailer pages describe a Patagonia wader repair kit (style 81660) with Aquaseal UV adhesive and Tenacious Tape Flex patches. Our wader repair guide, how to find a leak and repair kits pages cover the do-it-yourself route.
How the alternatives were picked
With no Patagonia waders to list, the table shows alternatives selected by a written rule:
- Same type: waders.
- Same foot type as Patagonia's waders: stockingfoot.
- A listed use of fly fishing, general fishing, or fishing and hunting.
- The closest price tier, then the most specs confirmed by the maker.
- No Amazon house brands.
The result is 15 stockingfoot waders from Simms, Frogg Toggs, Compass 360, Bassdash, Kylebooker and Paramount. Most are breathable waders with three or four layers, one is neoprene, and two are women's cuts. They are not copies of a Swiftcurrent, and I make no claim about how they compare on the water. For a closer comparison, use the stockingfoot waders, breathable waders and best fly fishing waders pages.
How to read the table
"Maker" means the manufacturer's page states it. "Claimed" means a maker claim without an independent standard, which includes layer counts and breathability. "Listing" means the Amazon listing says so. A dash means we could not confirm it.
Foot. Stockingfoot waders end in a neoprene bootie and you add a wading boot. Bootfoot waders have the boot attached. For fishing on foot, stockingfoot with separate boots is the usual choice. See bootfoot vs stockingfoot waders.
Layers. A claim about construction. Makers count layers differently, so compare reinforcement, seams and warranty before the number.
Booties and gravel guards. For river wading, you want gravel guards and a bootie that fits inside your boot.
Fit. Look for short, tall, stout and king options, and for women's cuts. Women's waders are covered on the women's waders page.
Warranty. One year for Frogg Toggs, Compass 360 and Paramount Outdoors, and a Simms Lifetime Guarantee on some Simms pairs, with a 60-day leak replacement and a year of repairs on the Freestone, per the makers; Bassdash and Kylebooker list none in our data. Patagonia's guarantee, as the store page describes it, covers defects and failures, with repairs for wear at a charge. That is a different shape from a fixed number of years, so compare what each covers, not only how long.
Choosing between the alternatives
For walking a river: every pair is stockingfoot. Compare the Deadfall (PTFE membrane, four layers per the maker, gravel guards, reinforced knees, one-year warranty), the Hellbender PRO (four layers, 4 mm booties) and the Simms Freestone (four layers, convertible per the listing). Then compare with the pages above.
For a lighter pair: the Simms Tributary is listed at 32.7 oz and the Freestone at 42 oz, and the Tributary has a Simms Lifetime Guarantee. The data gives no other weights, so a dash means ask.
For standing in cold water: the Frogg Toggs Amphib 3.5 mm neoprene is the one neoprene pair here, and the plainest.
Women's Patagonia waders
Searches for Patagonia women's waders usually mean the women's Swiftcurrent. The review I read says that at the time the women's pair came only in midweight fabric and had no knee pads. That is one reviewer's observation about one season's model, so check the current range on patagonia.com. In the table, the women's options are the Simms Women's Freestone and Women's Tributary, not Patagonia; the women's waders page lists more pairs with women's cuts.
Common mistakes with feature-rich fishing waders
Paying for features you will not use. Convertible tops, hand-warmer pockets and integrated belts are conveniences, and each adds seams and parts. Decide which you will use.
Skipping the boot test. A bootie that is tight inside a boot is cold and uncomfortable. Try the waders with the exact wading boots you plan to wear.
Ignoring what the guarantee covers. A guarantee on defects does not cover damage. Read what is excluded and what repairs cost.
Skipping the belt. A snug wading belt limits how much water enters in a fall.
Sizing
Stockingfoot waders are sized by body: chest, waist, inseam and height. Patagonia publishes size information on its site, and our wader size chart guide explains how to measure. A reviewer found the Swiftcurrent booties tight in boots, which means you should size the wading boot with the bootie and a sock on. I haven't read enough buyer feedback on Patagonia wader sizing to say whether the waders run large or small.
If you buy Patagonia waders elsewhere
- Confirm the exact model and whether it is current. Retailers disagree.
- Read the guarantee and the repair process, and keep the receipt.
- Check the fabric details. Whether a shell is H2No or GORE-TEX is a fact on the product page, not a guess to make from a review.
- Size the boots with the bootie on.
- Wear a wading belt. On any chest wader, a snug belt limits how much water enters in a fall. Do not wade deeper than you can recover from, and take care in cold water.
Care
Rinse after each trip, dry inside out away from direct sun, and store hanging or loosely rolled. Wash waders before sending them for repair, because Patagonia asks for clean items. See how to clean waders and how to store waders.
Where to go next
Start with waders, then stockingfoot waders, breathable waders and women's waders. The best fly fishing waders page applies a written selection rule.

Questions about Patagonia
Are Patagonia waders on Amazon?
Not at our last check in October 2026. We searched Amazon US for Patagonia waders and found no live listing we could confirm, so the table shows alternatives from other makers. I won't guess why. Patagonia sells through its own site and through fly shops.
What are the Patagonia Swiftcurrent waders?
Swiftcurrent is the name on the retailer listings I found for Patagonia's current chest waders. A review of the women's version describes a midweight outer fabric with recycled content, articulated knees, a gusseted crotch, a convertible top, neoprene booties and fleece-lined hand-warmer and waterproof interior pockets. Retailer pages conflict on whether each Swiftcurrent model is still current, so check patagonia.com for the exact one.
What is the Patagonia waders warranty?
Patagonia's Ironclad Guarantee covers manufacturing defects and product failures, according to a Patagonia store help page. Normal wear and tear can typically be repaired at a reasonable charge. The same page says that store cannot accept waders for repair and sends you to patagonia.com/returns or a phone call. Complex repairs go to the Reno, Nevada repair facility, with a typical turnaround of 8 to 10 weeks, up to 12 in peak season.
How do I repair Patagonia waders?
For a small leak, Patagonia sells a wader repair kit, style 81660, which retailer pages describe as containing Aquaseal UV repair adhesive and Tenacious Tape Flex patches with instructions. For anything the guarantee covers, contact Patagonia through patagonia.com/returns. Our wader repair guide explains how to find and patch a leak yourself.
Are Patagonia waders made with GORE-TEX?
I could not confirm it, and I won't say. The sources I read describe a Patagonia H2No waterproof breathable shell, not a GORE-TEX membrane, but I did not open Patagonia's current product page, which was down when I tried. Check the fabric details on patagonia.com for the exact pair.
What are Patagonia Forra wading boots?
Patagonia's wading boot, built by Fitwell according to a 2023 trade article. It has Vibram Mars sticky rubber soles with HexaBase lugs, an EVA midsole, a CORDURA mesh upper that drains quickly and an adjustable web lacing system. The article gives a weight of 41 ounces and says the boot is compatible with a tungsten-carbide stud kit.
What can I buy instead of Patagonia waders?
Every wader in the table is a stockingfoot fishing wader, so the type matches. The Compass 360 Deadfall lists a PTFE membrane and four layers, the Simms Freestone and Tributary are breathable stockingfoot waders with women's versions, and the stockingfoot waders and best fly fishing waders pages list more. None is a Patagonia, so compare layers, booties and warranty.
