Which Kylebooker model, if any
Who Kylebooker is
Kylebooker describes itself on its About page as an independent, China-based fishing tackle company founded in 2006, with a focus on fly fishing gear. That is the company's own account, and I could not find an independent source for the founding year, so I am quoting it as the maker's statement and nothing more. The page also says the company grew "from a one-product company" into a supplier of fishing tackle. I could not find the owner's name, a street address or the location of the factories, and I am not going to guess.
What the maker's site does show is how wide the catalog is. Waders, wading boots, jackets and pants, vests and packs, rods, reels, lines, flies, tying tools and landing nets all sit under one name, and so do some hunting and tactical items. A wide catalog under one brand is common for direct-to-consumer tackle companies, and it tells you something practical: Kylebooker is a value-focused general supplier, not a rod or wader specialist, so judge each product on its own listing.
What Kylebooker sells on Amazon US now
At our last check (October 2026) we track 29 live Kylebooker products on Amazon US. The table above shows all of them. Four are waders, one is a wading jacket, two are wading boots, six are reels, five are rod-and-reel combos, one is a rod, two are fly lines, four are backing spools and four are packs or vests. In price terms every one of them sits in our lowest tier at our last check.
A word on how to read the marks in that table. "Maker" means the value is stated on Kylebooker's own product page. "Claimed" means the maker makes the claim with no lab or standard named. "Listing" means the value is taken from the Amazon listing and the maker's page does not confirm it. A dash means we could not confirm the value anywhere and we do not guess. For this brand you will see "listing" and dashes more often than "maker", because many of the maker's pages are short marketing descriptions with few numbers.
The waders
The wader range is the reason most people search for the brand, so it gets the most space. All four waders in our data are stockingfoot (the neoprene bootie is part of the wader, and you wear separate wading boots over it) and all four are described as breathable.
KB002 chest waders. A chest-high stockingfoot wader that the Amazon listing calls unisex, with a 4 mm neoprene bootie, gravel guards, a three-layer construction and sizes from XS to 3XL. The waterproof rating (15,000 mm) and breathability (3,000 g) both come from the listing.
KB004 convertible waders. The same family of numbers, but with a cut that works as a chest wader or folds down to the waist. The maker's page describes a three-layer shell, reinforced four-layer legs and seat, adjustable suspenders, an accessory lanyard and gravel guards. A convertible cut is handy if you fish a mix of shallow riffles and deeper runs, because you can lower the top on a warm day.
KB003 wading pants. A waist-height stockingfoot pant. This is the model where the maker's page uses the strongest wording, describing 5-layer Gore-Tex Pro fabric and Gore taped seams. The listing says three layers. Those two statements do not agree, and I have no way to settle it from here. I would rely on the lower figure until the maker explains the difference.
KB006 hip waders. The shortest cut, with a 3 mm neoprene bootie. Hip waders keep you dry to the top of the thigh, which is enough for shallow creeks and not enough for anything else. See our hip waders page for other brands, and read what the cut can and cannot do before you rely on one in moving water.
Across all four, the waterproof rating is 15,000 mm and the breathability 3,000 g per the Amazon listings. Those are round numbers that a lot of budget waders carry. The tests that produce such figures are not named, so I read them as "the maker's target", not as a measurement we can compare across brands. The breathable waders page explains what the figures can and cannot tell you, and the stockingfoot waders page lists the alternatives.
Waders: what to check before you buy
Every pair of waders is only as honest as its weakest seam, and the seam knows it. With a budget wader the seams carry most of the risk, so check three things on the listing. First, the layer count and where the extra layers sit: a four-layer reinforcement in the legs and seat, as the KB004 page describes, matters more than a high headline number. Second, the bootie: 4 mm neoprene is fine for most of the season and cold in winter, and a wader without insulation needs thermal layers underneath when the water is cold. Third, the size range. Waders that fit wear better and last longer, because a pair that pulls at the crotch or shoulders works its seams loose faster.
When something does go wrong, our wader repair guide covers finding a leak and patching it, and a repair kit for waders is a cheap thing to have in the car.
Water safety is not optional with any wader. Wear a wading belt cinched over the wader, wade slowly, face upstream when you cross, and do not wade water you cannot see the bottom of. A wader full of water is heavy and hard to swim in, and a belt slows the water that gets in.
Sizing: what the maker says and what to do
Kylebooker publishes a sizing guide at the link in the sources, and the product pages for the waders carry a size chart plus a note that sizes are hand measured and a tolerance of roughly 0.75 to 2 inches may exist. That is a candid note, and it means you should leave a little margin.
I'd add two practical rules. Measure yourself in the clothes you will wear under the wader, not in a T-shirt, because fleece and thermal layers add real bulk. And if you are between sizes, think about what you do on the water. Anglers who scramble over logs and rocks tend to want a roomier cut so the knees can bend, while anglers who mostly stand in one run can go closer to the body. Our wader size chart guide explains how to take each measurement.
Buying a size down for a snug fit is the most common sizing mistake, and it is the one that stresses seams and shoulders first.
The range of sizes is a real strength here: the chest waders cover XS to 3XL in our data, which is wider than many competitors list. I could not read buyer reviews on Amazon for this page, so I will not say how the fit runs in practice. The honest summary is that buyer feedback on fit is not something we have enough data to state.
Wading boots and the jacket
Two wading boots sit in the data. The WB001 is a men's boot with a felt sole according to the listing, a leather and mesh upper, and US sizes 7 to 14. The WB003 comes with a felt or rubber option, is stud compatible, and is sold as unisex in sizes 8 to 14. The maker's page for the WB001 describes a 12 mm thick felt or rubber sole, a tongue stitched to the upper to keep out gravel and a mesh upper that drains and dries quickly.
The felt question is the one that matters. Felt grips slick rock very well. It also grips invasive species very well, which is why some places said no. Rules differ by state and by water, so check the regulations where you fish. Our felt vs rubber wading boots guide explains the trade-offs, and the felt sole wading boots page lists more options.
The WJ002 wading jacket is described as unisex and three-layer, with a fixed adjustable hood, neoprene cuffs and two large front pockets. The listing gives a 20,000 mm waterproof rating and 5,000 g breathability, and these are the listing's figures. Our wading jackets page lists the rest of the category.
Reels, rods and combos
Reels. Kylebooker sells two reel families. The FR01 comes in 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 sizes, with a large arbor, an aluminum body, a convertible retrieve and a disc drag of an unspecified type; our data lists 4.9, 5.6 and 6.5 oz and a one-year warranty. The FR05 is machined aluminum, large arbor, convertible retrieve, with a three-year warranty and no published weight in our data. A large arbor is a wider spool core, so line comes off in looser coils and each turn of the handle retrieves more. For how to match a reel to a rod, see the fly reels page, and for loading one, how to spool a fly reel.
Combos and the rod. The five combos pair a graphite, four-piece, medium-fast rod with a reel, in 4-weight (8 feet) and 5-, 6-, 7- and 8-weight (all 9 feet). The listings describe a cork handle, an aluminum alloy reel seat with two lock rings and a hard tube. The standalone 5-weight rod is described the same way. The line weights are the main choice: a 5-weight suits trout, a 7- or 8-weight suits bigger rivers, bass and wind. The fly rod combos page compares outfits from other makers.
A kit described as "everything you need" usually means a rod, a reel and sometimes a line. Check the listing for what is in the box; if you buy a combo that has no line, add one, and see fly lines.
Lines, backing and packs
Both fly lines are 100 feet, weight-forward and floating, in 3 to 8 weight ranges, with welded loops at both ends; the WF01 has a braided core and the WF02 Gold a Dacron braided core per the listing. The four backing spools come in 20 or 30 lb strength and 100 or 300 yard lengths, all Dacron per the listings. Our backing page and the guide on how much backing goes on a fly reel explain how much you need.
For carrying gear, the data lists a mesh vest (the FV01, with 17 pockets per the listing), a chest bag, a sling pack and a hybrid pack. Our fly fishing packs and fly fishing vests pages show the alternatives. Capacity and weight are mostly missing in our data, so look at the listing before you decide.
Warranty and returns
Kylebooker's own store refund policy accepts returns within 14 days of delivery for items that are new and unworn, with the buyer paying return shipping. That reads as a return policy and not as a defect warranty. In our data, the FR01 reels carry a one-year warranty and the FR05 reels a three-year warranty. We found no warranty statement for the waders on the maker's pages.
If you buy on Amazon, your return window and process are set by Amazon and the seller shown on the listing. Check which seller the listing names before you order, and keep the packaging until you have tried the product on at home.
How we picked what to include
The table lists every Kylebooker product we could confirm as live on Amazon US, excluding accessories and listings without a purchasable offer. We check availability weekly, so products appear and disappear. We read specs from the maker where the maker publishes them and from the Amazon listing where not, and we label which is which.
Where Kylebooker shows up
Questions about Kylebooker
Are Kylebooker waders any good?
I can't answer that from a bench or a river, because we do not test gear. What I can do is read the specs. The four waders in our data are all stockingfoot, breathable and listed as three-layer, and the waterproof and breathability figures come from the Amazon listings rather than the maker's page. Check the sizing notes below before you order.
Where are Kylebooker products made?
Kylebooker describes itself on its About page as an independent China-based fishing tackle company. We did not find a statement about which factory makes which product, so we do not say more than that.
Does Kylebooker use GORE-TEX in its waders?
The maker's page for the KB003 wading pants describes 5-layer Gore-Tex Pro fabric, and the maker's pages for the KB004 and KB003 mention Gore taped seams. We could not confirm those claims with any independent document, and the Amazon listing for the KB004 describes a three-layer shell. Treat the membrane wording as the maker's claim and compare it with the layer count in the table.
How do I choose a size in Kylebooker waders?
Use the maker's own sizing guide, linked in the sources, not a generic chart. The chest waders in our data run from XS or S up to 3XL, the KB003 wading pants from S to 2XL and the hip waders from M to 2XL. The maker's product page adds a note that sizes are hand measured and may be off by about an inch, so if you land between two sizes, read the measurement line twice before you decide.
Do Kylebooker wading boots have felt soles?
The WB001 listing says felt. The WB003 listing offers a felt or a rubber option and is listed as stud compatible. Felt is banned for wading in some places, so look up the rules for the water you fish before you buy, and read our felt vs rubber guide.
What warranty does Kylebooker give?
Our data shows a 1-year warranty on the FR01 reels and a 3-year warranty on the FR05 reels. For the waders we found no warranty statement on the maker's pages. The maker's own store refund policy accepts returns within 14 days of delivery for items in new condition, and the buyer pays return shipping. That policy applies to the maker's store, so for an Amazon order check the return terms on your Amazon order page.
Does Kylebooker make a rod and reel combo?
Yes. Five combos in our data pair a 9-foot rod (an 8-foot rod for the 4-weight) with a reel, in 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 weights. Every value for them comes from the Amazon listings, because the maker pages do not give a full specification.
