How alternatives are pickedProducts of the same type from other brands, closest first: same price tier as Duck Camp's own listings at our last check, then the most maker-published specs. No popularity, no paid placement.
Which Duck Camp model, if any
Who Duck Camp is
Duck Camp is an apparel and gear brand for waterfowl hunters. Its site lists hats, tees, outerwear, canvas equipment and waders, and it carries conservation collections, including one with Pheasants Forever. The navigation names an Austin shop as headquarters, a Houston shop in Rice Village and a retail partners page. I could not find a founding year, founders or owner on the pages I could open, so I won't give you one, and the Hunting Life launch report gives only the website.
The waders are a small part of a clothing line, and that shapes how I read them: a wader from a clothing brand is judged on whether the maker publishes the specs, not on the logo. So what does Duck Camp publish?
What Duck Camp sells in waders
At our last check (October 2026) the maker's waders collection lists four men's models: a hip wader in Moss/Raven and a zip wader in three camo colorways, Moss/Raven, Woodland and Wetland. The collection page doesn't list materials, layers, insulation, foot type or warranty. For the zip wader we have a launch report instead. Hunting Life's July 2022 piece, on the pre-order opening on July 28, 2022, describes a bootfoot zip wader with the following.
- A main body of nylon and polyester blend, described as quiet and durable, breathable and waterproof.
- 1000 g Thinsulate in the boots and an uninsulated upper.
- An adjustable, low-profile suspension system.
- An asymmetrical front zipper, with a pass-through chest pocket and a protected spot for the hands.
- A chest panel and side daisy chains for MOLLE accessories.
- Removable shin and knee padding, for protection and easy cleaning.
That is a launch description, now several years old, and the maker may have changed the details. It is useful, but it is not the final word. For a purchase, use the current Duck Camp product page.
Why there are no Duck Camp products in the table
We track no Duck Camp waders on Amazon US. The maker's site doesn't mention Amazon, and I can't give you a reason beyond that. The alternatives in the table above were picked by type (waders), by use (only waders the maker or listing puts in hunting, or fishing-and-hunting, use, which here means bootfoot chest waders, with several front-zip models, since the zip is the feature Duck Camp's wader is known for), by the closest price tier, and by the share of specs the makers confirm. They come from Drake, Banded, Avery and Frogg Toggs, and the table is not a ranking.
The hip wader
Duck Camp also lists a men's hip wader. We have no specs for it, so I won't describe it. In general, a hip wader covers the legs and stops at the hip. It suits wet field edges, ditches and shallow ponds, and anything deeper than your thigh will fill it. Our hip waders page lists the ones we track, and how to wear hip waders explains the strap setup.
Reading boot insulation
The Duck Camp zip wader's 1000 g Thinsulate figure is a good example of a number worth understanding. In bootfoot waders, the insulation figure is almost always the boot lining. More grams means a warmer boot and a thicker one. For comparison, the alternatives in the table list 200 and 600 g (the Frogg Toggs neoprene Amphib waders), 800 g (Drake Hardline) and 1600 g (the Drake Guardian Elite, Banded and Avery models). A hunter who stands still on frozen ground wants the high end. A hunter who walks a mile to the blind and sweats may find 1600 g boots too hot by midmorning.
Body insulation is a different matter. "Uninsulated" in a wader's name usually describes the body, and many such waders still have insulated boots. The "More specs" toggle under each model in the table shows what the makers say about the body. Where a maker gives a temperature range, as Banded does for some models, treat it as the maker's figure. Our insulated waders page lists the pairs that state an insulation weight.
What "low-profile suspension" means
The Marketing Copy loves a phrase like "low-profile suspension system." Low compared to what? I read it as a description of the shoulder straps, and the report calls the system adjustable. Adjustable straps matter more than low ones, because a wader that is too long in the body pulls at the crotch every time you lift a knee. Check that the straps adjust far enough for your torso, and that you can reach the buckles with gloves on. The alternatives in the table use different strap systems, so look at the listing photos.
Sizing and fit
Duck Camp's collection page filters by XS, S, M, L, XL and 2XL, with Short and Tall variants for several sizes. That's a more complete set of body cuts than many hunting waders offer, and it suggests the brand expects to be asked about inseam. It doesn't map sizes to models, and it gives no size chart on the page I read. Measure yourself, and then use the chart on the product page.
Whichever wader you buy, size the boot and the body separately. Measure chest, waist, hip and inseam over the layers you will wear, add room for the boot sock you hunt in, and check that you can squat and step over a log with the suspenders on. Buyer feedback on Duck Camp fit isn't something we can summarise, because we have no Duck Camp listings to read. For the alternatives, the fit notes on each Amazon listing are worth a look. Our wader size chart guide goes through the measuring.
Warranty
I could not find warranty terms for Duck Camp waders on the pages I could open. The collection page, the home page and the FAQ page I read didn't state any, and the site gives a help email address for questions. Ask before you buy. The things to ask are what the warranty covers (seams, zipper, membrane), who is covered (original owner only?), how long it lasts, and what the remedy is. For reference, the alternatives in the table list a 1-year warranty (Avery, Frogg Toggs), 2 years (Banded), 3 years (Drake) and 4 years (the Drake BMF1600).
Zip, hip or pull-over: matching the wader to the hunt
The three Duck Camp wader styles map onto three kinds of hunt, and the right one depends on where you will stand more than on the brand.
Flooded timber and open marsh. You wade thigh to waist deep, often in cold water, and you kneel to pick up a decoy. A chest-high bootfoot wader with padded knees is the usual answer, and a front zip lets you adjust for temperature. This is what the zip wader and most of the table's alternatives are built for.
Field edges, ditches and shallow ponds. If you are never in water above the knee, a hip wader weighs less and is easier to walk in. The limit is hard: the moment the water rises past the top, it fills the leg. If you aren't sure how deep the water will be, wear the chest wader.
Long walks to the blind. A breathable body with lighter boots, such as the 800 g Drake Hardline in the table, handles a mile of walking better than a heavily insulated wader. Layer up once you get there. This is the same logic as dressing for a ski tour: carry the warmth and put it on when you stop.
Questions to put to the maker
Because Duck Camp's collection page gives few specs, these are the questions I'd send before buying, and they work for any maker that doesn't publish enough.
- What is the fabric, how many layers, and is there a waterproof or breathability rating, and who measured it?
- Is 1000 g (or whatever figure applies) the boot insulation only, and is there any body insulation?
- What are the size cuts, and what are the inseam and chest ranges for each?
- Is the zipper waterproof, and what does the maker say about replacing or repairing it?
- What does the warranty cover and for how long, and is it limited to the original owner?
A maker that answers all five in writing is a maker you can trust to answer a warranty claim. One that answers with adjectives is telling you something too.
Wear a belt
In moving or deep water a wader can fill with water, and a fall in cold water is dangerous. Wear a snug wading belt over a chest wader, move slowly, stay out of water you can't see through, and tell someone where you are hunting. A zip wader needs the zip closed all the way and the belt snug over it.
If you buy a Duck Camp wader
- Read the current product page for materials, insulation and warranty. Launch reports go stale.
- Check the zip care instructions. Front zips are specialist parts. Keep sand and mud out of the teeth, and rinse after each hunt.
- Take the pass-through pocket seriously. If you use it, keep it dry and out of the way of the zip.
- Store the wader loose, not folded into a tight bundle in a truck. See how to store waders and how to clean waders.
More ways to narrow it down
The duck hunting waders page lists the hunting waders we track, and best duck hunting waders applies a fixed rule. For the brands in the table, see Drake, Banded, Avery and Frogg Toggs.

Questions about Duck Camp
Are Duck Camp waders sold on Amazon?
We track no Duck Camp waders on Amazon US at our last check (October 2026). Duck Camp's site sells its waders directly, lists a retail partners page without naming partners in the content I could read, and doesn't mention Amazon. If you find a listing under the Duck Camp name, compare it with the product page on duckcamp.com.
How is the Duck Camp Zip Wader insulated?
A Hunting Life report on the launch in July 2022 describes 1000 g of Thinsulate in the boots and an uninsulated upper. That is the launch description, and the maker's current product page is the place to confirm it. As with other bootfoot waders, the gram figure refers to the boots, and a layer of fleece under the wader does the rest.
What fabric are Duck Camp waders made of?
The Hunting Life report describes a nylon and polyester blend for the main body, described as quiet and durable, breathable and waterproof. It doesn't name a membrane or a layer count, and the maker's collection page lists no materials. Treat the fabric as claimed by the manufacturer until you read the current product page.
What sizes do Duck Camp waders come in?
The collection page lets you filter by XS, S, M, L, XL and 2XL, with Short and Tall variants for several sizes. It doesn't map sizes to models or give a chart, so check the product page for the pair you want, and measure yourself over your layers first.
Do Duck Camp waders have a warranty?
I couldn't find warranty terms on the pages I could open, and the company's FAQ page, as it appeared to me, carried nothing on waders. Ask Duck Camp for the written terms before you buy, including who is covered and what it does when a seam leaks.
Is a zip wader better than a pull-over?
A front zip lets you vent the chest and get in and out of the wader more easily. It adds a part that can fail and needs care. If you hunt long days and shed layers as the day warms, the zip earns its place. If you wade only now and then, a pull-over has one fewer thing to look after.
What are good alternatives to Duck Camp waders?
For a front-zip breathable bootfoot wader with similar boot insulation to the Duck Camp launch spec, look at the Drake Guardian Elite front zip models and the Banded Black Label Elite zipper wader in the table. The Avery Originals insulated wader adds HARS body insulation and a one-year warranty. Compare the boot grams, the body insulation and the warranty column.
