Short answer
The Redington fly rod warranty is a defect warranty. If a new rod bought from an authorized retailer fails because of a flaw in materials or workmanship, the original owner can send it in and Redington replaces the rod. Far Bank, the company that owns Redington, publishes one warranty page for Sage, Redington and its other brands, and that page is the primary source for everything below. Where a retailer listing and the policy page disagree, I go with the policy page.
Redington is covered on our Redington brand page, which lists the rods, outfits and reels we track on Amazon US. This guide is the long version of the warranty question.
Who is covered
Three conditions show up in the policy wording.
- New product. The coverage is for new rods, not used ones.
- Authorized retailer. The rod has to be bought from an authorized retailer. A rod from an unknown reseller may not qualify, so check who is selling before you buy.
- Original owner. The warranty belongs to the person who bought the rod, and it does not travel with the rod if you sell it.
That last point is why the word "lifetime" shows up on product pages and not on the policy page. The coverage runs for as long as the original owner owns the rod. (A lifetime is usually the owner's, not the rod's, which is worth knowing before you buy a secondhand one.)
The one-year exceptions
Far Bank's page names a short list of Redington products with a shorter warranty: the Crosswater series, and the Minnow, Original and Topo combos. These carry one year against defects in materials or workmanship, and a dated proof of purchase is required.
This matters most if you are buying a starter outfit. A combo that looks like a rod and reel in a box may fall under the one-year rule, while a standalone rod from another line does not. We list the Redington outfits on the fly rod combos page. Look at the line name before you assume anything about the term. The brand page notes one case where a kit's lifetime-warranty statement applies to the rod only and not to the whole kit, as stated by the maker.
What the remedy is
The policy says the remedy is replacement of the rod or reel, and Redington may swap a discontinued model for a newer one. That is the whole remedy. The policy excludes consequential or incidental damage, which means money you spent on a trip, a guide or a replacement while you waited does not come back.

What is not covered
The exclusions in the policy are plain:
- misuse and neglect;
- normal wear;
- fire and theft;
- missing or lost sections;
- intentional damage;
- modification or customization.
The broken rod is the grey area, and I'll be straight about it. A rod that snaps when a car door closes on it is not a defect. A rod that fails at a ferrule with no sign of abuse might be. Far Bank says its repair technicians inspect every returned product and decide whether it is a warranty case or a repair that carries a fee, and that more than one technician often assesses it. I can't tell you how any single claim comes out, and neither can a listing.
What happens after the warranty ends
Outside the warranty, the policy page says replacement is available for a fee. It also mentions tip-only purchases for non-warranty tip breakage, depending on availability, and spare tips can be bought from the Redington website at any time. I did not find a fee table on the page, so I won't quote an amount. Ask when you submit the online form.

How to make a claim
- Start with the online repair form on Far Bank's site.
- Pack the entire rod, with every broken piece, in a tube or box that will protect it.
- Ship it freight paid and insured to the Bainbridge Island, Washington, address you are given during the online process. The cost of shipping is yours.
- Include proof of purchase, and keep the tracking number. For the one-year products the proof must be dated.

Redington waders and wading boots
Redington stopped making waders. Reporting from October 2024 said the brand was discontinuing its wader line to focus on rods and reels, and Far Bank's policy now treats wading products as discontinued. Redington does not repair or replace them. Qualifying failures get a refund or credit instead.
For products bought before October 1, 2024, a failure within 60 days gets a full refund, and a failure after 60 days and within 365 days gets a credit on FarBank.com equal to the purchase price. For products bought on or after that date, the page lists a full refund for failures within 60 days and nothing beyond. You ship the whole product freight paid and insured to the Redington Warranty Dept., ATTN: Waders Team, in Bainbridge Island. You include a note with your name, address, phone and email, plus proof of purchase. The product has to be washed and dried first. If Far Bank decides the failure was not a defect, the product comes back to you at no fee.
If your Redington waders have a small leak and are outside those windows, a patch may be the practical answer. Our wader repair guide covers pinholes and seams. If you are replacing them, start with the waders page. Sizing for the discontinued pairs is on our Redington wader size chart page.
Before you buy, check this
- Which line is it? Crosswater, Minnow, Original and Topo are one year.
- Who is the seller? Authorized retailer status decides whether the warranty applies.
- Do you have a dated receipt? Keep it with the rod tube.
- Is the term in the listing the same as the term on the policy page? If not, the policy page wins.
Compare the rod lines themselves on the fly rods page, and if you are weighing this against another maker's terms, our Sage fly rod warranty guide covers the sister brand under the same policy page.
Questions people ask
Is the Redington fly rod warranty lifetime?
It depends which page you read. Far Bank's policy page describes an original-owner warranty against defects in materials and workmanship and does not use the word lifetime for Redington rods. Many product pages and retailer listings call it a lifetime warranty. They are describing the same thing from different angles: the coverage lasts as long as the original owner owns the rod, and it is not transferable. Read the policy for your model before you buy, because the Crosswater series and the Minnow, Original and Topo combos are one year only.
How long is the Redington warranty on a rod and reel combo?
Per Far Bank, the Minnow, Original and Topo combos carry a one-year warranty, as does the Crosswater series, and a dated proof of purchase is required. Other new Redington rods bought from authorized retailers carry the original-owner warranty. If a listing shows a rod sold in a kit, check which line the kit belongs to.
Does the Redington warranty cover a rod I broke?
Not as a warranty claim. The policy covers defects, and it excludes misuse, neglect, normal wear, fire, theft, missing or lost sections and intentional damage. Far Bank says its technicians inspect each returned product and decide whether the failure is a warranty case or a paid repair. The policy page also mentions a replacement for a fee outside warranty, and tip-only purchases for non-warranty tip breakage depending on availability.
What is the Redington wader warranty?
Redington waders and wading boots are discontinued, so Far Bank's policy offers a refund or store credit instead of repair or replacement. For products bought before October 1, 2024, a failure within 60 days gets a refund and a failure after 60 days and within 365 days gets credit equal to the purchase price on FarBank.com. For products bought on or after that date, the page lists a refund for failures within 60 days and nothing beyond. You need proof of purchase, and the product must be washed and dried before you return it.
Where do I send a Redington rod for warranty?
Start with the online repair form on Far Bank's site. After that, per the policy, you send the entire product, including any broken pieces, freight paid and insured, to the Bainbridge Island, Washington, address you are given during the online process. Keep your tracking number.
